FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer free a consultation?

I do. You are welcome to a free 20 minute video or phone consultation with me so we can meet each other and determine if we are a good fit. You’ll be able to ask me any question that you may have, and I can learn about your situation to determine if my skill sets match your needs.

How can I request a new appointment?

You can request a new appointment here. Or, feel free to contact me online or call me at (510) 463-1150.

How much does therapy cost?

My full fee for individual therapy is $300 per session, usually 45-50 minutes. My full fee for couples and family therapy is $350 per session, usually 50 minutes. A sliding scale may be available.

What type of insurance do you accept?
I am currently not accepting any insurance payments. I can provide receipts as an out-of-network provider, for you to be reimbursed, which many insurance companies will do, especially if I offer a specialization your insurance company network can’t provide.
What can I expect to get out of therapy?
Participating in therapy may result in a number of benefits for you, including, but not limited to, increased joy, creativity and resourcefulness, deeper insight, improved interpersonal relationships, increased ease in social, work, and family settings, increased capacity for intimacy, increased self-confidence, reduced stress and anxiety and a decrease in negative thoughts and self-sabotaging behaviors. Psychotherapy is an opportunity for you to better and more deeply understand yourself and any problems or difficulties you may be having. Therapy may also result in changes in your personal life or relationships. I will not be offering you advice or recommendations in matters of this sort but will do my best to help you determine what is best for you.
What types of therapy do you offer?
I offer somatic, holistic, client-centered, relational therapy for adults, teens, couples and families. I specialize in trauma resolution, including PTSD and other forms of anxiety and depression associated with trauma; suicide bereavement for those who have lost someone to suicide; addiction and dual diagnosis recovery services; and spiritually-focused psychotherapy. You can read more about these on my specializations and services pages.
How long does it take to feel better?

This varies from person to person. Some people begin to feel relief after the first session, while for others it may take multiple sessions to start feeling the benefits. Ultimately the speed of progress will depend on a number of factors, and your communication with me about your satisfaction along the way will greatly facilitate that progress.

How can I know if we are good match?

It may take a few sessions to know for sure that we are a good match as client and therapist. An initial, free, 20 minute video or phone consultation can usually provide enough information to determine if we are a good enough match to meet in person for at least a session or two and see if we are a good fit going forward. Most clients will benefit from these initial sessions, even if they don’t continue with me as their therapist, and will know by then whether they want to continue or not. Please feel free to request a free consultation by contacting me online or calling (510) 463-1150.
